WALKING IN PAISLEY

As you walk through Paisley, take the time to stop and contemplate these local points of interest. They have a variety of historical and religious significance, and what better time to seek God’s presence in our town than Easter?

  • COATS MEMORIAL CHURCH
Built in memory of Thomas Coats, it’s a relatively recent example of beautiful Christian places of worship.

  • LORD ATKINS QUOTE
’Who then, in law, is my neighbour?’ he once asked. Jesus Himself fulfilled the law, and called us to see everyone as our neighbour, and to love them. Matthew 22:36-40

  • OAKSHAW TRINITY CHURCH
The markings in the cobblestones next to the church are in memory of four men who once fell from the church tower.

  • LIFE CHURCH
Here you can see all four pieces of artwork and written words in the window of the cafe. You are welcome to join Life Church on a Sunday (following all the Covid guidelines on the website).

  • KING SOLOMON STATUE
Often missed in passing, King Solomon sits overlooking the High Street. He prayed to God for wisdom, rather than riches, and God chose to bless him with both.

  • PAISLEY ABBEY
An impressive centrepiece of Paisley, the Abbey has been standing for nearly 1000 years. Historically it would have been a hub of worship, culture, education, and even medicine.

  • SAINT MIRIN STATUE
An Irish monk who travelled to Scotland as a missionary, St. Mirin is said to have founded the very first church in Paisley, somewhere near Seedhill.
