Life Church is a worshipping, discipling and missional faith community.
We believe worship can be modelled in all areas of life.
We aim to worship the one, true God, to glorify His great Name, and to make His praise glorious. Our worship is:
God-focused because He made everything for His glory, including us.
Public because we want to tell others about how good He is.
God-inspired because He leads and guides our worship.
Not limited to a Sunday morning because it encompasses all areas of our lifestyles.
Innovative because we look out for ways to turn all things - family life, work, leisure, etc. - to His praise.
We believe discipling means following Jesus together and implementing what He says.
Jesus calls us to be disciples, followers, apprentices, trainees and learners of His ways, and to share what we have learned with everyone. Following Jesus is not about church attendance, but about living out a Christ-centred life.
That is why Life Church is aiming to develop ways in which everyone connected to us can grow as God-focused and people-loving disciples. The spirit of discipleship is actively seeking coaching and learning from one another so that:
Christ is formed within us, that we become like Him as we follow Him
We are spiritually empowered as we receive power from the Holy Spirit.
We learn how to live life to the full with the gifts of God and the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
We believe mission is personal, collective and global outreach to others.
In Life Church we want to demonstrate the change God has made in us by serving one another and our community. We believe we are called to be different from the world and are sent to represent God’s kingdom.
Therefore aim to spend our resources and energy increasingly on reaching others with the life-changing message of God’s love:
within our existing networks
locally
and globally
We do not exist for ourselves, but for God and His vision for this world.
We are a faith community.
Our faith is in God. We believe He has revealed Himself to us through:
the Creation He made and sustains
the incarnation of Jesus, His Son
the written scriptures, as revealed by the Holy Spirit
His people, as they are led by the Holy Spirit
Team
CHRIS GREENHALGH
Pastor
Chris’ vision for the church is for us to be passionate in worship, serious about following Jesus and to be joyfully engaged in God’s redemptive love for the world. Chris has a heart for global missions. If you ask him about his travels you may find out more about the night he spent dancing with Berber villagers in the Atlas Mountains or when he walked through a Saharan marketplace clasping pinkies with a Maur man.
RUTH GREENHALGH
Community Pastor
Ruth is a third generation missionary, born and raised in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo) where she swam in a lake with crocodiles (we are unsure if this was by accident or on purpose). Her and husband Chris, returned from their missions in Morocco to take up the opportunity of transitioning Life Church to its centrally based location we know today.
PHIL ARBON
Equipping & Teaching
With his Masters Degree in Biblical Interpretation, Phil is our go to guy for those difficult theological conversations. He regularly teaches theology in Rwanda, Uganda and Albania and is a keen painter. You cannot truly understand how art is part of him until you know that their family car was purchased because its shade of red matches the colour of their canoe.
IRENEE GILLIES
Pastoral Care
Irenee is glad you didn’t know her in the period of her life when she wore a fur jacket with red shoes, red gloves and a red bag. However she does want you to know that her vision is to see lives changed by the power of Jesus Christ and for people to be built up to become effective in their giftings.
PETER WALLERSTEIN
Treasurer
Peter became a Christian after attending an evangelical meeting in South Africa where he worked as a Toolmaker. HIs precision thinking means he is trusted with the practical stuff, however he likes to counterbalance this by providing us with his cheeky personality. His vision is to see Life Church as a vibrant fellowship, transforming the lives of the people of Paisley.
URSULA O’DONNELL
Kids Church
When she was young, Ursula’s sister convinced her to provide hay for their plastic animals by giving herself a very uneven haircut. Still to this day Ursula believes in the importance of trying things out, because we can't be used fully by God, unless we're willing to give things a go.
ASHISH INGALE
Worship
Ashish leads the worship team at Life Church. Part of YWAM Paisley, Ashish can often be found on the streets of Glasgow and Paisley worship busking.
